Tailor Ed October News letter

Hi everyone!

We have an array of events coming up for both parents and children. Our workshops are proving popular and we have a topical coffee morning coming up as well as our usual Time Twisters session and a Dad’s night. For more information about these events, please don’t hesitate to contact the office. We hope to see you there.

Autism friendly play session

Our regular autism friendly play session at Time Twisters will run on Wednesday 26th October 2016 from 4 pm until 6 pm. Time Twisters is at Unit 5, Catalyst Park, 2B Bankhead Drive, Edinburgh EH11 4EJ.

The next session after this will be Wednesday 30th November. These sessions are held to create a less busy play session for children and families who may find it difficult to access mainstream provisions.  These sessions are closed to the general public but siblings are welcome to attend. A member of Tailor Ed staff will be present at these sessions. Please note that for this session only will Time Twisters will be decorated in a Halloween theme. For those children who enjoy dressing up, they are more than welcome to but dressing up is entirely optional.

The cost for the session is £4.55 per child (adults enter for free). For families who want to attend but need help with the cost, we have a small budget available for this. You can contact us and we will send out a form for you to complete.

Coffee Morning

Our forthcoming coffee morning will be held at Cafe Camino, Little King Street EH1 3JR on the 3rd of November from 10am until 12pm. We have members of the Community Occupational Therapy team coming along.

This is a great opportunity to find out more about this OT team and their service, as well as a chance to catch up with our staff and chat with other parents. There will be a short presentation given by Rona and Morag and afterwards you can then ask them questions and have a chat over coffee. To give an idea of numbers please contact the office by phone or email Fran at contact@tailoredfoundation.co.uk

Sign a-Long workshop

This is open to parents who would like to be taught a range of functional signs and also learn when and how to apply signing most effectively to support communication. We are running this workshop on the 25th of November from 10am-12pm at Leith Library, 28-30 Ferry Road, EH6 4AE. To book email Fran at contact@tailoredfoundation.co.uk

Understanding Autism Workshops

Please note that as with all other workshops, this is not for children to attend. The workshop will run over 2 sessions and is designed for you to attend both. Please note that these workshops are for parents who have a child referred to Tailor Ed.

Our Dad’s Group

Currently we have a group running just for Dads which is informal gathering, usually in a pub and a chance for dads meet up with other dads who have a child referred to Tailor Ed. Hosted by one of our male project workers this offers dads a chance to relax and the opportunity to build an informal support network.

Our next event will be on the 2nd of November at 8pm at Clerk’s Bar 74-78 Clerk Street, EH8 9PT. It is important to us that dads feel included in the support received from Tailor Ed.
